A Chinese wall or ethical wall is an information barrier protocol within an organization designed to prevent exchange of information or communication that could lead to conflicts of interest. For example, a Chinese wall may be established to separate people who make investments from those who are privy to confidential information that could improperly influence the investment decisions. Firms are generally required by law to safeguard insider information and ensure that improper trading does not occur. The term is used in journalism to describe the separation between the editorial and advertising arms.[17] The Chinese wall is regarded as breached for "advertorial" projects.[18] Separately, the term can refer to a separation between a publication's news and opinions arms. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_wall

The fairness doctrine of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), introduced in 1949, was a policy that required the holders of broadcast licenses to both present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was—in the FCC's view—honest, equitable, and balanced. The FCC eliminated the policy in 1987 (under 2 chairmen appointed by Ronald Reagan) and removed the rule that implemented the policy from the Federal Register in August 2011.[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FCC_fairness_doctrine (more)

Cory Doctorow: The health industry’s invisible hand is a fist. The US has the rich world's most expensive health care system, and that system delivers the worst health outcomes of any country in the rich world. Also, the US is unique in relying on market forces as the primary regulator of its health care system. All of these facts are related! (more)

Ron Jeffries: The Agile Ecology. There is a connection between the 17 old men who had a meeting in Snowbird, and the poor devils working in the code mines of insurance companies in Ohio, suffering under the heel of the boot of the draconian sons of expletives who imposed a bastardized version of something called Scrum on them. We started this thing and we should at least feel sad that it has sometimes gone so far off the rails. And we should do what we can to keep it from going more off the rails, and to help some people get back on the rails. (more)

Cory Doctorow: The true, tactical significance of Project 2025. I've only read a single writer who immediately grasped the true significance of Project 2025: The American Prospect's Rick Perlstein, which is unsurprising, given Perlstein's stature as one of the left's most important historians of right wing movements.
